In 2005, Karen was confronted with a traumatic event that would change the course of her life and impact the lives of others, including specialists in the medical fraternity. Her son was born with a congenital birth defect, clubfoot, where tendons attaching the muscle to bone are shorter than usual causing the foot to point downwards and inwards.
